WPL Final 2024: Royal Challengers Bangalore won by 8 wickets against Delhi Capitals.
WPL Final 2024 Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the title by defeating Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in the thrilling final match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) on Sunday 17th. Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first and they scored 113 runs in 18.3 overs by losing all the wickets despite having a magnificent start in the powerplay DC scored 61 runs in the powerplay without losing a single wicket, a beautiful innings by Shafali Verma and Lanning.

This is RCB’s first title and they have defeated Delhi Capitals at their home in Arun jetali stadium. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s men’s team has never won the IPL trophy, but the women’s team emerged victorious in the second season of the WPL. The special thing is that till now a total of five matches have been played in this league between Delhi and Bangalore and Bangalore won for the first time and that too in a thriller final like match.

Shefali played an inning of 44 runs in 27 balls with two fours and three sixes. After this, Shreyanka Patil did not give Delhi batters a chance to settle down. Delhi’s batting was so bad that the team, which once scored 64 runs without any loss, could not even play the full 20 overs and was all out to just 113 runs in 18.3 overs.
l took four wickets, Molineux took three wickets and Asha took two wickets. The interesting thing is that RCB spinners took nine wickets while Radha Yadav was run out. Lanning 23 runs, Rodriguez and Capsey could not even open the account. Cap was out after scoring eight runs, Jonassen three runs, Radha after scoring 12 runs.

Chasing the target of just 114 runs, RCB got a good start from Sophie Devine and Smriti Mandhana and both the batters added 49 runs for the first wicket. This partnership was broken by Shikha Pandey by dismissing Divine who scored 32 runs. After this, captain Mandhana took over the innings, but Minnu Mani sent her to the pavilion on the score of 31 runs. Then Elise Perry and Richa Ghosh gave the team victory in the last over. Bangalore needed five runs in the last over.
